One way to stand out in your business is to offer excellent customer service. Many businesses claim that they do, some actually do, and others blatantly ignore customers and their inquiries. Why would you choose to ignore a potential customer’s questions? That is a very quick way to not only lose that customer, but possibly other potential sales and customers as a direct result of your unwillingness to provide information or assistance.
My husband and I had our kitchen remodeled this past spring. It was a project that took two years to plan. In that time, we met with a dozen or more contractors, builders and supply stores. I could write stories for days about this experience, but what stands out in my mind the most, is the high level of professionalism and excellent customer service from a few of the contractors we worked with.
What happens when you experience great customer service? You want to share it with others! I have recommended these businesses many times, to many people. Remember, people talk, make sure they have something great to say!
Our other experiences with this project were on the opposite side of the spectrum: no call/no shows, no price quotes after an initial visit, high-pressure sales and bad attitudes. Being that it was a big project, it took a long time to find people we wanted to work with, the right people. The right people were the ones who answered our questions; they were courteous, professional, timely, and honest. Differentiate yourself from your competition by truly giving outstanding customer service.
